Springfield 1848 Mustet smooth bore
This is an "experienced" older black powder musket/rifle that appears to be mostly original. Overall, this musket is solid, with a working action. The stock, however, has been broken and repaired and apparently the damage was done "back in the day" as the repair looks to be of the time that this musket would have been more relevant to the times of use. I say that due to the method of repair, brass rivets or plugs were inserted into the stock to support the repair. I could be wrong.... This musket is missing the charging rod and the bayonette. I believe that the buttplate is original. The right side plate (below the hammer) is marked Springfield 1848. If you are interested in this type of firearm, I think that this one deserves a look in person. Offered at a fraction of the price for collector quality guns.
